There are currently eight iPads (6th generation) available for checkout by Lehigh-Carbon Library Cooperative card holders. These iPads are only WiFi capable and do not include a data plan; you must have wireless Internet to use them. The iPads are supervised and managed using Apple Configurator 2 to wipe data between uses to protect patron privacy. Each iPad includes various educational and entertainment apps for a range of ages.

Eligibility

  • The borrower must have a current Lehigh-Carbon Library Cooperative card with no outstanding charges or items.

  • The borrower must have read and agreed to the iPad Lending Policy in its entirety.
  • Only one iPad per person can be checked out in the library at a time. A user may not check out an iPad for another person unless that user is a parent or guardian checking out an iPad for supervised use with their child/ren under the age of 10.

  • First come, first served.
  • 2 hour time limit, in library use only.

Regulations of Use

  • The borrower is responsible for the iPad from the time of acceptance until which time staff clears and records its return.
  • The iPad must be returned in the same condition as when it was borrowed. Users may not add or remove apps, download any programs, or change the configuration of the iPad in any way.
  • Borrowers are required to report any problems experienced with the iPad during their borrowing period. The working condition of the iPad will be assessed before checkout and upon its return.
  • Borrowers are responsible for damage to an iPad. Repair cost for a damaged iPad can range from $49.00 plus a $6.95 processing fee to the replacement cost of the device, depending on severity.
  • If the borrower modifies the iPad operating system (i.e., jailbreaks the iPad) it voids the warranty, and they will be charged the replacement cost of the iPad.
  • A patron will need to complete an iPad Borrowing Agreement acknowledging financial responsibility for lost or damaged equipment. If the borrower is less than 18 years of age, a parent or guardian needs to sign the iPad Borrowing Agreement in person as well.
  • The Coplay Public Library reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who abuses the equipment or is repeatedly late in returning the iPad.
